Fourth and Fifth grade Art Club students have been learning the craft of Stage Design. This winter, P. S. 115 will host a showcase featuring dance and music that celebrates culture throughout the DECADES. Art Club students are designing a life-size “Time Machine” for the performers to travel throughout through different periods. They have been building their skills with 3D construction. They learned a variety of ways to attach materials together. They used ‘tabs’ to connect parts, ‘band-aids’ to strengthen the bonds, ‘slits’ to connect vertical design elements as well as techniques to create a ‘cylinder.’ Currently, students are beginning to build the large imaginary stage prop and will experiment with movable parts and lights. We hope you can admire our stage designs alongside the performers this winter.
