Jonathan Lee,
Principal

Mr. Lee

I have served as an educator in New York City Public Schools for over 22 years and it has been a blessing to make a difference in children's lives. I served most of my years at P.S/M.S 57 James Weldon Johnson Leadership Academy as an Academic Intervention Services provider in Mathematics, Math Coach, and an Assistant Principal. To continue to grow professionally, I left P.S/M.S 57 to be an Instructional Lead at Field Support level in 2016 and in 2017 joined District 18 to serve as a District Leader and a Director of School Renewal. In 2018 it was an honor to join the staff at P.S 115 to lead as the Principal.
My journey to become an educator did not have a defined path. Leaving the Marine Corps after 4 years of active-duty military service, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing, I worked in Management while pursuing my MBA. It was during those years where the feeling of having a job was simply a job and not making a difference. I had a mid-life crisis at 23. I would never wish a mid-life crisis on anyone at a young age of 23, but it was a turning point for me to become an educator. I am glad I made the decision to become an educator and pursue a Master's in Education and Administration. It is truly the best job in the world.
Over the course of 22 years, I have had the pleasure to work with elementary and middle school aged children. It truly is a treasure to see our children grow up with a love for learning and moving on to college and to the professional world. I am proud that P.S 115 is an Oasis in Canarsie, a school that serves our children and families with love and care. I am in awe of what we have accomplished together over the past 4 years even through the pandemic. I am excited to see our partnership grow and flourish in service of our children. Thank you for trusting me and our team with your children. As the saying goes..."it takes a village to raise a child."

I serve as one of the two Assistant Principals here at P.S. 115. I am honored to work alongside the dedicated and motivated educators and staff here and to be of service to the P.S. 115 community. My educational philosophy centers on the belief that every child has the ability to learn. I enjoy the challenge of developing critical thinkers who are passionate about learning. I truly believe that we grow in community. When guardians and educators work together, a child has a team of adults who are committed in bringing out their best. Thus, we must support each other in ways that keep this goal in mind.
My parents migrated from Guyana, South America to provide my brothers and me with more opportunities. They taught us the importance of education and hard work. Education, they said, opened closed doors. These ideas catapulted me into the field of education and inspired me to obtain master's degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership.
I am a product of the NYC public school system. I believe in our system’s ability to provide quality, free education. Through collaboration and inter-dependency, we will educate our children and provide them with a solid foundation that cannot be taken away.

Ms. Green,
Assistant Principal

Ms. Green

For twelve years I have had the honor of serving as Assistant Principal at P.S. 115. It gives me great pleasure to be a member of such an amazing learning community dedicated to preparing our students to achieve academically, socially and emotionally. We partner with families to build a strong foundation for our students in order that they later experience successful careers and rewarding personal lives. I believe that students learn best while immersed in a positive school environment surrounded by caring and supportive adults. We work everyday to ensure that every student has an adult who serves as their champion and advocate.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Black & Latin American Studies from Indiana University of PA. Following positions in advertising and a career as a Human Resources Manager, I chose to pursue a career in the service of children. I served as an elementary and middle school Special Education teacher for several years before completing my second master’s in Educational Leadership. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with students of all ages from first grade to adult through positions as a paraprofessional, teacher, school administrator and adult educator.
I am proud that we have developed a school culture that welcomes and supports our families and students both inside and outside of school. I look forward to our continued partnership in developing successful, happy students.
